Clarkston Community Calendar

The Clarkson Area Chamber of Commerce along with the Charter Township of Independence were working together annually to publish a printed calendar for the Clarkston Area.  The annual cost of actually printing the calendar was $10,000.  This does not include the labor the staff of the Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce went through to compile all the dates in the calendar.

IGD Solutions Corporation was engaged to build an online calendar to take the place of the printed calendar.  We were able to create an online calendar within the two month time frame allowable before the start of the next year.  The online calendar we created allowed local groups and users to interactively post their own dates to the website.  The Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce acts as the administrator of the calendar on an ongoing basis giving out logins and passwords to area groups that qualify to be able to post their dates on the calendar.  This calendar is always up to date because each group manages their own dates and the calendar sends out Email reminders to those citizens who have requested them.  Email reminders are only received for the specific groups that citizens requested when they signed up for the Email reminders.

On an ongoing basis, the calendar costs $900, which is less than 10% of the annual cost of the printed calendar.  The project has been a partnership between Clarkston Community Schools, the Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Charter Township of Independence.
